Effects of five global TFs on the conversion of cinnamic acid to cinnamylamine. The reaction was performed in M9 buffer (pH 7.0) containing 10 mM cinnamic acid (the initial concentration); 20 mM L-Ala; 20 mM MgSO4; S003-S009 wet cells, OD600 nm = 30 at 30 °C with 200 rpm shaking for 1 h. Not recovered: undetectable cinnamic acid. It may be converted to other unknown byproducts. According to our previous report [17], the by-product pyruvate generated during the reaction can replace glucose as the carbon source for the reaction (Scheme 1)
