Comparison of enzyme activities of Tbe1 and Tbe2 with LL_Tbe and SP_Est. The tEc cells producing Tbe1 (orange), Tbe2 (green), LL_Tbe (blue) or SP_Est (purple) were examined for the production of p-nitrophenol, a breakdown product of p-nitrophenol butyrate (p-NPB). Bacterial cells were incubated with the enzyme reaction mixture for 5 min and the absorbance at 400 nm was measured every 10 s. The tEc strain harboring the empty pBAD24 plasmid was used as a negative control (red). Three independent experiments were conducted, and values of means ± SEM are displayed in each data point
